Anonymous asked: Hello! I just came across your blog and am loving it! I read about the digital perm you had done in June and was wondering how long the results last and in your opinion if it's worth the cost. Thanks! Lorna

Hi Lorna

The condition of my hair was definitely improved by the treatment but I went to the gym the next day and had to wash my hair which lost the curl afterwards. You can get the treatment with straight hair though so if you’re looking to improve the condition it’s worthwhile but if you’re after it for the perm I think it depends on your hair type (thick, fine etc) and your lifestyle in terms of how long it will last.

Anonymous asked: Can u apply makeup foundation after the manuka doctor apiclear moisturiser ?

Yes! With any moisturiser I like to give it about 5 mins to settle into my skin before applying any foundation and concealer.

Label.m Intensive Repair Shampoo & Conditioner review

Hello BeautyBoosters!

After a hectic few weeks of MUA work, at-home hair colour experimenting and London Fashion Week my hair was in serious need of some TLC! Step forward Label.m Intensive Repair Shampoo and Conditioner.

This nourishing combo is specifically designed for dry and visually damaged hair and was the perfect remedy to my rather overzealous styling and colouring efforts over the past few weeks. It’s great to have a product that not only smells incredible but also actually works! My once rather straw-like self-ombre‘d ends are now looking much smoother and healthier and the overall dullness and limp locks are gone and replaced with a much glossier, bouncier mane of hair. I’ll still need to admit defeat and get a trim on the very ends (shame on me and my at-home colouring attempts) but it really has made a significant improvement so would definitely recommend this!

National Trust Coast Rock Samphire and Driftwood Hand & Body Lotion review

Another review from my sister Hannah Freeman

National Trust Coast Rock Samphire and Driftwood Hand & Body Lotion

My first thought upon seeing this product was, what are The National Trust doing making beauty products? However, I was soon seduced by the elegant packaging so thought I’d give it a go! I was very pleasantly surprised, and have to say I absolutely loved this body moisturiser. The sophisticated yet delicate herbal fragrance of the Samphire and Driftwood immediately won me over, in my experience you only tend to achieve that kind of quality from premium price aromatherapy products. Most importantly, on application,  it felt light and non-greasy, and simply melted into my skin leaving my hands and body perfectly moisturised with no sticky residue.  On closer inspection I was thoroughly delighted to discover, (from the packaging) that this is one of a range of beauty products produced and sold by the National Trust (alongside The Icon Partnership) in order to create funds for the charity. The sales revenue preserves this country’s countryside and coastline heritage, including Exmoor National Park, an area  which inspired this product’s name and fragrance. So it’s wonderful to know that by using this product I can sumultaneously protect our breathtaking flora and fauna, as well as my own skin!

Yves Rocher Hydra Vegetal Creme Riche Hydration Intense 24h Rich Hydrating Cream

Note: My lovely sister Hannah Freeman tested this on my behalf as I was having some sensitive skin issues!

Yves Rocher Hydra Vegetal Creme Riche Hydration Intense 24h Rich Hydrating Cream  Review

The first thing you notice about this hydrating face cream is it’s gorgeous cucumber fragrance - it’s deliciously fresh & light.  I instantly knew this was a holiday-skin must-have. A great skin soother that’s perfect for those days when you’ve had a bit too much soleil by the pool. Thick, cool and creamy in texture, I literally wanted to literally dip my whole body in the tub after a humid day in the city but alas it’s only meant for the face! Infused with lots of natural ingredients such as, ‘sap from maple trees and blue agave plants’ this product works by ‘locking in water’ deep inside the skin.  My only negative observation was that my skin felt a bit sticky after application, so I’d probably suggest using as a night cream/post sun balm or even at home when you need that weekly moisture hit.

Alpha-H Liquid Gold Smoothing and Perfecting Mask

Note: My lovely sister Hannah Freeman tested this on my behalf as after a patch test my skin was just too sensitive for this product! I was gutted as you will soon see below she LOVED this product!

ALPHA-H LIQUID GOLD SMOOTHING AND PERFECTING MASK REVIEW

After a weekend of abusing my skin with too many late nights and alcohol I thought it deserved a real treat in the form of Alpha-H’s ‘Liquid Gold Smoothing and Perfecting Mask’.

On application, the face mask feels rich and creamy, exactly like a luxe product should! A big fan of lavender infused products I expected a stronger aroma, yet this was more subtle, almost clinical which some may prefer.  I noticed a tingling sensation as soon as it touched my skin which reminded me to adhere to the strict instructions of washing off after 10 minutes. Removing the mask was easy, all I used was a little warm water and a gently massaged with my fingertips- no buffing needed  My skin felt uber cleansed  with no post mask residue. I was very happy, and surprised by the results: my skin looked super clear and really plumped up, so much so that the omnipresent crease on my forehead (a constant sign of dehydrated skin my facialist regularly informs me) virtually disappeared.  My skin literally looked like I’d had another 8 hours sleep.  I can’t ever remember a facial having such a drastic and instant effect, whilst I’d warn the more sensitive skin types to try a patch test beforehand, I’m now a devoted fan of this miracle skin product!

I was born into shadow.

Patrilineal land rights have cast my female ancestors to the farthest corners of my family’s history. Their names are missing from nearly three hundred years of records. I am haunted by their absence.

This work explores the ambivalence of my birthright; an immutable and tainted inheritance.”
